BOYLE STREET

Boyle Street is one of Edmonton’s oldest communities, dating back to 1892.  At that time is was the heart of commerce for the new town of Edmonton with the Hudson Bay Company reserve located directly west.  During the 1970s a large number of old buildings were destroyed in the community for redevelopment purposes.

Today, Boyle Street borders the eastern edge of Edmonton’s central district and still has a great deal of vacant undeveloped lots dating back to the 1970s.  However in 2009 the Quarters Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan was approved by city council to transform this neighbourhood in the near future.

Boyle Street is named after John R. Boyle.

The geographical boundaries of this community are:

  • NORTH: LRT Tracks / 103 A AVE
  • SOUTH: Grierson Hill/ Rowland RD/ Alex Taylor RD/ Jasper AVE
  • EAST: 82 ST
  • WEST: 97 ST

City Councillor: Jane Batty
