Welcome to Capilano

The Capilano neighbourhood sits in Southeast Edmonton. It is a mature neighbourhood in a great area for people who are ready to be a part of a relaxed, established area of Edmonton. Many of the homes were built in the 1960s, and along with the tall trees and leisurely parks, they provide a lasting feeling of “home-sweet-home”. Almost 100% of the homes in Capilano are single family homes, nearly three quarters of which are owner-occupied.

Capilano is bound by the North Saskatchewan River Valley to the north, overlooks Wayne Gretzky Drive to the west, 106 Avenue to the south, and then steps up to meet the Gold Bar Ravine to the east. More about Capilano...

Capilano’s History

The area was subdivided in 1910, however, its main use was still agricultural. It wasn’t until its annexation to Edmonton in 1949 that development started. Capilano has maintained its original planning, with no introduction of high rise apartments or condominiums.

Capilano Today

Capilano maintains a great atmosphere of hominess and comfort. There are two elementary school within its boundaries: Suzuki Charter School and St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary school. McNally High School, a public school, is located west of Capilano in Forest Heights. The Community League maintains tennis courts and a skating rink, making this neighbourhood a great place to raise a family, meet some new friends, and be an active member in the community.
