ROSSDALE

Located in the river valley directly south of the downtown core, it is one of Edmonton’s oldest communities.  Originally named Ross Flats, it was home to a brewery, ice house, lumber yard, power plant, and a coal mine.  However today Rossdale is in the process of revitalization and redevelopment, and as a result over half the current residences were constructed during the 1990s and 2000s.

Rossdale is named after Donald Ross who built Edmonton’s first hotel at the foot of McDougall Hill.

The geographical boundaries of this community are:

  • NORTH: River Valley
  • SOUTH: North Saskatchewan River
  • EAST:  North Saskatchewan River
  • WEST: 106 ST / Bellamy Hill

City Councillor: Jane Batty
