West Jasper Place’s History

Jasper Place was at one point Alberta’s largest town with over 37,000 residents. It was amalgamated with Edmonton in 1964, creating many new neighbourhoods, including West Jasper Place, the name of the neighbourhood reflecting its location within the old town of Jasper Place. This area was used by early settlers in the 1900s as farmland for grain and cattle, before having very fast and consistent population growth.
