Belle Rive’s History

The land for Belle Rive was brought into the City of Edmonton’s jurisdiction in 1971, with plans for the neighbourhood taking shape in the early eighties as part of the Lakes district. Development began in 1982, but the neighbourhood wasn’t fully built-out until just prior to 2011, with most of Belle Rive’s development taking place in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Belle Rive Today

Today, construction in Belle Rive is a memory. The neighbourhood is characterized by consisting almost exclusively of single detached houses that are owner-occupied. The neighbourhood’s road design eschews busy intersections and collector roadways in favour of a roadway network that distributes traffic within the neighbourhood while discouraging non-residents from using the roads for shortcuts.
