With ongoing plans within an already well-established community, Ermineskin is a mature neighbourhood in southwest Edmonton, with a great history and a big future. Thinking green space, curved, quiet streets, and close amenities? Ermineskin could be the neighbourhood you’ve been looking for.

Neighbourhood Facts

Most of the residences (70%) are rented apartments and condominiums, the rest are mostly single detached homes or row houses. This is a great place to purchase a rental property, with its easy access. Ermineskin is bound to the north by a utility corridor just north of 29 Avenue, to the east by Calgary Trail, to the south by 23 Avenue, and to the west by 111 Street. Many southern neighbourhoods have a curvilinear street pattern, and Ermineskin is no exception. It is largely residential, however large commercial areas and green spaces make this mixed-use neighbourhood a dynamic place to live. It’s an ideal location for escaping the city for camping or trips to southern Alberta.

Ermineskin’s History

The Ermineskin neighbourhood is named after Cree Chief Ermineskin of Maskwacis and the Ermineskin Creek Nation. The bulk of homes were constructed in the 1970s, however infill development continued into the early 2000s. Century Park, Edmonton’s first transit oriented development, began construction along 111 Street in the mid 2000s, on the edge of Ermineskin. It is a mix of commercial, office, and residential space built around a central park and connected to the Century Park Light Rail Transit (LRT) station, offering direct transit to downtown and other areas of the city. It is an exciting development that focuses on young professionals and urban families.
