Blue Quill Estates’ History

Blue Quill (and of course, Blue Quill Estates)  is named after Chief Blue Quill of the Saddle Lake Indian Reserve. Chief Blue Quill was known to trade in Edmonton in the 1890s.

The land for Blue Quill Estates was annexed in 1971 and residential development began soon after. That said, development continued in the area into the 1990s, meaning you’ll see architectural styles spanning three decades in the area. The neighbourhood was planned around an area of central green space, which features a playground and several sports fields.

Blue Quill Estates Today

Blue Quill Estates’ population is a little more mobile than one would expect, but, this is largely due to the relatively small size of the neighbourhood and presence of a few large apartment complexes. Overall, the neighbourhood is very quiet, and about two-thirds of units are owner occupied.

Century Park LRT station is a few minute’s drive from Blue Quill Estates, providing a simple commute to downtown. Nature lover? You’ll find plenty in the aforementioned Whitemud Creek Ravine.  Overall, Blue Quill Estates is a quiet and relaxed place to call home.
