Blue Quill’s History
The land for Blue Quill was annexed in 1971 and residential development began soon after, as part of the Kaskitayo Outline Plan in 1973. The majority of construction was complete before 1980, but additional lots were developed into the early 2000s. The neighbourhood was constructed around an area of central green space, which features a school, sports facilities, and a community hall. Prior to development, the land of Blue Quill was mostly used for agriculture.
Blue Quill Estates Today
Blue Quill’s active community league is the neighbourhood’s anchor and connector. With a highly mobile population in the neighbourhood, the community league does a wonderful job of providing residents with a sense of togetherness, due to its location and its frequently-organized events.
Century Park LRT station lies on 111 Street, just east of the neighbourhood, providing easy access to central Edmonton and beyond.
