Ellerslie occupies the area in southeast Edmonton between 34 Street and 91 Street, north of Ellerslie Road and south of Anthony Henday Drive. Ellerslie’s most common residence is the simgle family dwelling, comprising two-thirds of the neighbourhood’s residences.

Ellerslie’s History

“Ellerslie” is the name that’s been used to designate this area since the turn of the 20th century. Ellerslie was annexed by the City of Edmonton in the major annexation of 1982. This including the existing rural subdivision of Wernerville and Ellerslie School. Wernerville remains a part of the Ellerslie neighbourhood to this day, with its mature trees, pathways, and one-hectare lots standing in contrast to the modern development.

Modern Ellerslie began taking shape in the early 2000s, with construction all but complete as of 2008.  Development in Ellerslie took place alongside the development of the south portion of Anthony Henday Drive.

Ellerslie Today

Ellerslie is an accessible and modern suburban neighbourhood, which benefits from being more-or-less completely built out. Ellerslie is very close to South Edmonton Common, and there are plenty of restaurants and services between the two as well. Its proximity to Anthony Henday Drive and Highway 2 make getting out of town for the weekend from Ellerslie a breeze.  If you’re looking for a home in a new-but-established neighbourhood, Ellerslie might be just the place.
