While McKinnon Ravine has influenced the layout of the lots near the ravine, the majority of the neighbourhood conforms to the familiar grid pattern of streets. More about Grovenor...

Grovenor is dominated by single family residences, but since the 1960s redevelopment has occurred in the form of duplexes and low rise apartments. Infill redevelopment continues to be a feature of this neighbourhood, and new residential structures have been built every decade providing a wide range of housing types and styles throughout the community.
Commercial development in Grovenor is concentrated along Stony Plain Road. A commercial centre is also located on 149 ST, which provides a range of amenities for local residents. McKinnon Ravine forms the southern boundary of Grovenor and allows residents easy access to the North Saskatchewan River Valley via walkways and trails. Grovenor is close to Westmount Mall and very accessible to Edmonton’s downtown via Stony Plain Road.
The name Grovenor came into use for the area after World War II. Part of the Grovenor neighbourhood was originally known as Westgrove, which was developed around 1907. The origin of the name Grovenor is not known.
