Hollick Kenyon’s History

Residential construction in Hollick Kenyon began in the early 1990s and continued into the 2000s. The neighbourhood is located within the Pilot Sound Area Structure Plan in northeast Edmonton. Pilot Sound is a newer community comprising of seven neighbourhoods and is a reminder of the city’s aviation history.

Like all neighbourhoods within the Pilot Sound area, Hollick-Kenyon is named after a famous aviator, Herbert “Bertie” Hollick-Kenyon (1897-1975), who piloted flights over the Antarctic as part of the first mapping of that territory. After decades of exploration and search and rescue missions, Hollick-Kenyon joined Canadian Pacific Airlines in 1942, whom he worked for until his retirement in 1962.

Hollick Kenyon Today

Hollick Kenyon is bounded on the south by 153 Avenue, on the north by 167 Avenue, on the west by 59A Street, on the south by the 153 Avenue arterial roadway and on the east by the new alignment of the 50 Street arterial roadway.

The dominant housing form in Hollick Kenyon is currently the single detached dwelling. Hollick Kenyon includes a range of housing types to ensure a supply of affordable housing options. The neighbourhood is also close to the Clareview LRT station and the new Clareview Recreation Centre, making it an excellent choice for families or those commuting downtown. Getting to the rest of the city is also easy, due to its proximity to the now-complete Anthony Henday Drive.

There is one school in the neighbourhood: Dr Donald Massey Elementary-Junior High School and one main park, the Hollick Kenyon Park. If you're looking for a home in a newer area where constant construction is no longer happening, Hollick Kenyon might be the place for you.
