Lymburn’s History

Lymburn’s construction began during the late 1970s. Development continued into the 1980s, when more than half of the neighbourhood’s homes were constructed. Development continued into the 1990s, with a pocket of lots still undeveloped by the turn of the century, though construction was largely complete by this time. The northwest part of the neighbourhood is where the newer developments were completed.

Lymburn Today

Lymburn is home to the Callingwood-Lymburn Community League, established in 1979, which maintains a community hall and outdoor rink, and runs many programs and activities for residents. West Edmonton Mall is also near the neighbourhood (just over the Whitemud on 178 Street), providing residents with quick access to its shopping and attractions.

Just south of Lymburn lies a host of services, including the Jamie Platz YMCA for leisure and fitness activities, and the Market at Callingwood for groceries, restaurants, and a host of other services. Be sure to check out the Callingwood Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays and Sundays!
