Oleskiw’s History
This great neighbourhood was named after Dr. Joseph Oleskiw. He was an early advocate of immigration to Canada, and played a large role in bringing early Ukrainian settlers to the area. Residential development was mostly carried out from the 1970s to 1990s.
Oleskiw Today
Nearly 88% of the homes in Oleskiw are single family homes, developed among keyhole crescents and curvilinear street patterns. The rest of the residences are mostly made up of duplexes/fourplexes, and row housing. You’ll easily fit into the swing of things in Oleskiw. The Edmonton Golf and Country Club is situated along the east boundary, overlooking the North Saskatchewan River. Oleskiw is home to Edmonton’s Beth Israel Synagogue. West Edmonton Mall is a mere eight minute drive from the center of the neighbourhood, rounding this area off as a wonderful place to live, for what it contains within, as well as what it offers so close by.
