Starling’s History

Starling was shaped by its natural area. Great care was taken for development in the area to ensure the neighbourhood’s natural history was preserved as best as possible. Big Lake itself has a storied history, and has long been one of the Edmonton area’s most prominent and ecologically important natural areas. The area has been protected by Lois Hole Provincial Park since 2005.

Starling Today

Starling remains sheltered from the city, though getting into Edmonton is a breeze with Yellowhead Trail and Anthony Henday Drive nearby. You’ll find no neighbourhood with better access to surrounding communities like St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and the Acheson industrial park as well.

You’ll find a pair of golf courses near Starling: The Glendale Golf and Country Club, a very challenging course, and the par-3 Dragon’s Head public course, a much easier one. If you’re a gardener, you’ll want to check the Enjoy Centre out, which lies just to the north in St. Albert. In short, Starling is the right neighbourhood for those who love modern living and the outdoors.
