Strathearn’s History

Strathearn became a part of Edmonton in 1912. Most of Strathearn remained undeveloped until the late 1940s and 1950s when the land was subdivided and housing and commercial structures were built. Most construction took place in the 1950s, which includes residential and commercial buildings. Strathearn Heights Apartments was one of the city’s first large scale housing developments and remains well-regarded to this day. Redevelopment talks have been in place to create a transit-oriented project as well.

Strathearn Today

Strathearn is a bit of a low-key culinary hotspot as well. The venerable Red Ox Inn has long been regarded as one of Edmonton’s best fine dining restaurants. Juniper Cafe and Bistro is a little newer, but no less well-regarded. Strathearn is one of Edmonton’s finest neighbourhoods. Avenue Edmonton named it the 17th best in 2017. Make sure it’s on your list too.
