Tamarack’s History

Though still a new neighbourhood, Tamarack’s history stretches back to 2006, when the Tamarack Neighbourhood Structure Plan (NSP) was adopted. This plan laid out the land usage of the neighbourhood, as well as development phases, transportation plans, and how to work within the area’s unique natural features and environment.

Mill Creek runs through Tamarack’s south end, while Fulton Creek and the Fulton Creek Marshland lie just north, in the Maple neighbourhood. The preservation of Mill Creek was explicitly stated in the NSP, so residents can be sure that this piece of Edmonton’s natural history will be around in the future.

Tamarack Today

As Tamarack takes shape, it has all the makings of a wonderful neighbourhood in southeast Edmonton. Its location near RioCan Meadows provides excellent retail options, while the nearby Meadows Recreation Centre provides residents with affordable family fun and fitness. The Meadows transit centre is also located in Tamarack, providing excellent bus service options to residents.
