Woodcroft has been a part of the City of Edmonton since its very early days, but the land remained largely undeveloped until the 1950s, though a few earlier houses remain. The variety in architectural styles, however, is very high in Woodcroft. This late onset construction has led to near continuous redevelopment in the area, which has left a very interesting tapestry of homes.
The Woodcroft name has been in use since 1907 and was descriptive of the treed area upon which the neighbourhood was built.
Woodcroft is in a renaissance period. Neighbourhood renewal work on streets and sidewalks was completed in 2014, and redevelopment has picked up since then.
With Westmount Shopping Centre being so close, Woodcroft has all the amenities you need. Woodcroft also has beautiful Coronation Park on its south edge. This park contains the Telus World of Science, one of the city’s most popular attractions, and with good reason. You’ll find rotating exhibits, classes, and a full IMAX theatre inside. The park also contains an ice arena, lawn bowling and tennis facilities, Peter Hemingway Fitness and Leisure Centre, and the Woodcroft Community League building.
There hasn’t been a better time to get into Woodcroft in years. This is truly one of Edmonton’s hidden gems for neighbourhoods.
